Plastering
Introduction & Explanation
This project involved plastering the ceiling and walls of a period property bathroom in Ramsgate as the first stage of a full bathroom renovation. The job came with a strict timeline, with other trades lined up to follow on directly, so speed and precision were both essential.
The property featured original period coving and decorative architraves throughout. Rather than stripping these out and replacing them, which would have added cost and time to the project, we plastered neatly between and around all the existing coving and architraves, preserving the period features while still achieving a clean, smooth finish across every surface.
Aquapanel cement board was used in the relevant areas to provide a solid, moisture-resistant substrate ready for tiling, alongside standard plasterboard and skim in the remaining sections. All work was carried out with the existing features fully protected and left undamaged.
Outcome & Insights
The ceiling and walls were handed over on time and in full, giving the bathroom fit-out team a clean, prepared surface to work straight onto without delay.
Working around period features rather than removing them is a skill in itself, and in this case it saved the client both money and time without compromising the quality of the finish. It is exactly the kind of practical, problem-solving approach we bring to every job.
