Introduction & Explanation

This project involved plastering work within a living room as part of an interior refurbishment. The ceiling had been boarded and required preparation before it could be finished properly, including joint treatment, tape reinforcement and surface preparation across the full ceiling area.

We prepared the plasterboard joints, secured the necessary areas and applied plaster to create a consistent ceiling surface. The work also included plastering around the window wall and reveal, where the surrounding surfaces needed to be made good after previous work had left uneven areas around the opening.

Care was taken around the existing window, sill and surrounding walls to keep the finish neat and ready for the next stage of decoration.

Outcome & Insights

The completed plastering left the living room with a far cleaner and more professional base for painting.

The ceiling now reads as one continuous surface rather than a set of visible boards and joints, while the window area has been brought back to a smooth, finished condition. This gave the room a much more prepared and complete feel before final decoration.

Projects like this show the importance of proper surface preparation during a renovation, as the quality of the plastering directly affects how sharp and clean the final painted room will look.
