Introduction & Explanation

This room required extensive preparation before any plastering work could begin. The existing walls were covered with multiple layers of old wallpaper, damaged plaster and numerous surface imperfections that had built up over many years.

We started by stripping the room back to its original surfaces, removing wallpaper and loose material throughout. Once exposed, the walls revealed a number of damaged areas, previous patch repairs and uneven sections that needed attention before a new finish could be applied.

Particular care was required around the bay window, where the curved wall beneath the windows presented a more complex plastering challenge than a standard flat surface. These areas were carefully prepared and repaired to maintain the original shape and character of the room while creating a consistent surface ready for finishing.

Following preparation, the walls were patched, levelled and skimmed where required to create a smooth and uniform finish across the room.

Outcome & Insights

The project transformed a room that had been affected by decades of wear, old wall coverings and inconsistent previous repairs into a space ready for decoration.

By removing the hidden defects beneath the wallpaper and correcting uneven surfaces, the room was brought back to a condition suitable for modern decorating standards. The curved bay window section was successfully retained and refinished without compromising its original architectural detail, ensuring the character of the property remained intact while providing a clean and professional finish throughout.
