Kitchen Remodelling
Introduction & Explanation
This project involved a complete kitchen strip out and full preparation of the space ahead of a new kitchen installation in Ramsgate. The brief was to take the kitchen back to a blank canvas so the kitchen fitters could come in and start fitting straight away without any delays or obstacles.
The existing kitchen was fully stripped out including all units, worktops and old flooring. Once the floor was exposed it became clear the existing boards were rotten throughout and needed to be fully replaced. We laid new structural plywood across the entire floor area, properly fixed and levelled, giving the kitchen fitters a solid and even base to work from.
With the floor sorted we moved on to the ceiling, installing recessed spotlights throughout and running all the wiring back ready for connection. The walls and ceiling were then fully plastered, skimmed and painted white throughout, leaving every surface clean, smooth and ready for units to go straight up against them.
Outcome & Insights
The kitchen was handed over fully prepped, plastered, painted and wired, with a solid new floor underneath and spotlights in position ready to be connected once the kitchen was fitted.
Preparation work like this is often underestimated but it is what determines how well a kitchen installation goes. A well-prepped space means the fitters can work faster, the finish is cleaner and there are no costly surprises mid-installation. Getting this stage right is what separates a good kitchen from a great one.
